Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge 2010. January 6, 2010. Today Spectrum Sciences posted for us on this web site the 2010 NOR (Notice of Race) and the entry form. Again this year we are using fill a form making it easier for you to fill out, print and mail. Early entries help us in the proper planning for another great event that you would expect from us.

The Holiday Inn is ready to take your room resverations, make sure when you call to use the code SC1. Their direct phone number is 1-800-356-2009 and tell them you are coming to Screwpile to get the special rate. We have 250 rooms blocked and sometimes when you call late in the evening the folks at the desk may tell you they are sold out for the Screwpile dates but they are looking at the room block. The good thing is you are talking to people at the Holiday Inn Solomons and they promise they will take very good care of you.

SCREWPILE LIGHTHOUSE CHALLENGE 2010. Wednesday December 16, 2009. We received our first entry yesterday, thank you very much. Early entries help us make the our regatta better because we are abel to plan the facilities, awards, race circles and the number of volunteers needed. The Screwpile Challenges are regatta's "run by sailors for sailors" and we have never lost sight of that since the very first one. This year we are planning and hoping to present a new way for you to view the results, one that you will be quite please with. Our volunteers in addition to our own club will be made up from members of seven other clubs, with each circle headed by a PRO from AYC, Hampton and SMSA. Thank you bow number 13 for being the first entry and requesting that bow number. We will soon post the Notice of Race and the entry form on this web site. We are happy to tell you there are no increases in entry and working overtime to keep all prices the same as the last two years.

If you would like us to mail you the 2010 entry form just drop a note to;  chairman@screwpile.net

SCREWPILE LIGHTHOUSE CHALLENGE 2010. August 14, 2009. Plans are under way for  the planning of the 18th Screwpile Challenge. Location of the Race Headquarters, social, and awards will again be at the Holiday Inn in Solmons. The dates for the challenge are July 18,19 and 20th of July. The drafts of the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions is completed. The tents have been reserved. Three race circles  again this year. We are planning on twelve classes. We are hopeful our signature one design class, the J/105s will return in 2010. We are working on increasing our inaurgal Sport Boat class size in 2010. Looking for that magic formula of rating and lenght for the sport boats that are on the Chesapeake, yes Californaia boats are welcomed bring them on. Again this year we are planing on live musical entertainment for you. No price increases are planned again in 2010. We do however plan on more boats say 160-170 that would be the perfect number. We have started linning up our race committtees on the water and a new Chief Scorer is on board. Joy D is going sailing in Screwpile this year after many years voluntering as a scorer and last year as the Chief Scorer.

This year we are going to help SpinSheet celebrate their 15th Anniversary at Screwpile. Its their birthday and cause to celebrate, bring your best party hat. More later on this celebration.

We are very much open to any suggestions you might want us to consider, just send a emai to: chairman @screwpile.net

Thank you.
